Step - 1 Visit the ICT website. Step - 2 Scroll below to get access to "Admission News" Step - 3 Click on "More" Step - 4 Click on Admission Notice 2017-2018 [Get access to the pdf for the important dates] Step - 5 Apply Online [The link is still not available. It will be updated here. Also the procedure to fill form will be described.] Step - 6 Visit ICT website on 30/5/17 to get the results [i.e. Merit List] Step - 7 If you are GATE qualified, and your name is displayed in the merit list, then you are eligible for Level-1 admission process. The date of admission will be declared by the management; somewhere in June. If you are a non-GATE applicant, Level-2 admission process is for you. Somewhere in the 2nd week of June an online test will be conducted (keep visiting website for the dates). If you clear the exam (results being declared as soon you complete the exam); you will be sent for an interview. If you clear the interview, you will e eligible for the admission. Step - 8 After the level one admission process, level 2 admission starts. Depending on your merit, eligibility and availability of seats you will be allotted the remaining seats. [Now you might be confused with this line. Read below for a detailed explanation]
Let the merit list displayed after the exam be (no. of qualified students after exam) 1. A 2. B 3. C 4. D 5. E 6. F 7. G 8. H 9. I 10. J
Not everyone remains eligible after the interview. So after the interview the eligibility list be: 1. A - {He is from Open Category} 2. B - {He is from SC/NT Category} 4. D - {He is from Open Category} 7. G - {He is from Open Category} 8. H - {He is from SC/NT Category} 10. J - {He is from OBC Category}
Now let say that the total seats available for a specific course be 10. Out of this assume that 6 seats have been allotted to GATE qualified candidates, during the level-1 admission process. So only 4 seats remained. Logically the first 4 candidates must be allotted the 4 remaining seats. But here is the twist:
Now out of this, 1 seat is for SC/NT, 1 seat is for OBC and 2 seats are for Open Category 1. A (will be granted admission in OPEN category) 2. B (will be granted admission in SC/NT category) 4. D (will be granted admission in OPEN category) 7. G (No seats of Open are available. So no admission for him, even if he qualified) 8. H (No seats of SC/NT are available. So no admission for him, even if he qualified) 10. J (Even if my merit he was the last, but there was a seat vacant in OBC category, he will get the admission.)
Let's consider another case: 1. A - {He is from Open Category} - [Will be granted admission in Open category] 2. B - {He is from SC/NT Category} - [Will be granted admission in SC/NT category] 4. D - {He is from SC/NT Category} - [Even if no SC/NT seats are available, he will be granted admission -> in Open category] 7. G - {He is from Open Category} - [As both seats of open category are filled, no admission for this person] 8. H - {He is from SC/NT Category} - [No admission, as neither SC/Nt seat is vacant nor an open seat is vacant] 10. J - {He is from OBC Category} - [Even if my merit he was the last, but there was a seat vacant in OBC category, he will get the admission.]
Step - 9 The date of admission will be declared; you need to present with either cash or you debit/credit card, to the pay the fees on the spot. Some students are excused (on special request) to pay the fees in 2 instalments one of which has to be paid on the spot, on the same day, or else your admission remains cancelled. In case of cancellation of admission it needs to be done within 15 days of taking admission or else fees in not refunded.
Note: You can opt for admission in any department of you choice. After the admission if you want to change the department, you can (given that you had applied for admission to that department too[even if you were not eligible in exam or interview], and given that a seat is vacant in that department.)
